SPEAK OUT - What a success!
Stage 4 and 5 students were treated to a rousing rendition of their peers' rhetorical skills on Wednesday morning at the Speak Out public speaking competition.
Following a guest address by Mr Luis Rodriguez on the benefits of public speaking in the workplace, two teams fought in a closely-contested debate "That Australia is a caring nation." Representatives from each English class delivered a prepared speech on the issue that matters most to them, ranging from pollution to child marriage to money. We were also entertained by a variety of impromptu speeches, enjoying some audience participation!

Debate - Affirmative team: Vongi Chikonzo (9F), Michael Diguglielmo (8L), Charlise Hannagan (8O)
Stage 5 Prepared Speech - First place: Ethan Smith (10G)
Second place: Aidan Mansfield (9G)
Third place: Samuel McMurray (10I)
Stage 5 Impromptu Speech - First place: Kyle Wyber (9G)
Second place: Nicholas Lage (10I)
Third place: Gari Guru (9F)
Each participant will receive a Participation certificate for their efforts.
Special thanks to Mrs Rodriguez for organising the event, to Mr Loadsman for his ongoing mentoring of the debating team, and also to the various judges. We look forward to making Speak Out a tradition in the MACC calendar!

Bali Mission Trip Pictures
Over the holidays, 3 of our students went to Bali on a missions trip. They had a fabulous time and impacted the local communities extremely well. We are very proud proud of their efforts!

Australian Rugby League Championships
Over the
past week, Wanyei has competed at the Under 15 Australian Schoolboy Rugby
League Championships. He represented NSW Combined Independent Schools and they
reached the semi finals (becoming the most successful CIS team ever) before
being beaten by Queensland in a state of origin clash! The event was held in St
Mary’s and is the highest level of competition possible for a player of his
age. This is a massive achievement for him and as a College, we are extremely
proud of his efforts. Well done, Wanyei.

Students Inspired
On Wednesday, all students in Secondary School had the privilege of listening to glen Gerreyn. Glen is a Christian speaker who has a unique ability to connect with kids and encourage them that there is a higher calling in them, that its important that they have dreams to aspire for and that hard work is an essential part of achieving these dreams.
Glen also had a chance to do a specific session with our Stage 5 cohort and then completed a Study Skills session with Stage 6 which was awesome. As you can see below, the students were captivated by his every word.
